Get to Know Your Options for Neck Rejuvenation at AF Aesthetics
Aesthetic medicine evolves constantly. Each year introduces innovations in both surgical techniques and nonsurgical options, opening up new possibilities for addressing the effects of ageing in the neck and jawline. Treatment options now range from energy-based technologies that work with your body’s natural processes to procedures like MyEllevate that provide structural support without invasive surgery.
Each development increases our ability to tailor treatments to the unique needs of our patients. In this overview, we’re exploring the neck rejuvenation treatments available at AF Aesthetics. We encourage you to use this information as an introduction to your options. Then, come in for a consultation with our experienced medical team to determine a treatment plan that is appropriate for your circumstances.
Nonsurgical Neck Contouring Options Available at AF Aesthetics
Thread Lift
A thread lift uses tiny, dissolvable sutures to smooth and tighten the tissues of the neck. During the procedure, a doctor places the threads under the skin with a small needle. The threads immediately lift the skin and secure it in place. Results last until the threads dissolve and the tissues relax into their former state, which typically occurs one to two years after the procedure.
Ulthera
Ulthera sends ultrasound waves deep below the skin’s surface to stimulate collagen production. When the energy reaches the targeted tissue layer, it generates heat that triggers the growth of new collagen and elastin fibres. Over time, the increase in these fibres tightens and lifts the skin. An Ultherapy treatment for the face and neck typically takes 60 to 90 minutes, and results can last up to one year.
Thermage
Thermage FLX is the most advanced version of the Thermage system. Like Ulthera, Thermage uses energy (in this case, radiofrequency energy) to generate heat that promotes collagen production and causes the tissues to contract. Thermage can be used nearly anywhere on the face and neck, even in delicate areas like around the eyes. Results may last one to two years.
Accent Prime
The multifunctional Accent Prime system includes options for face and body contouring, skin tightening and skin resurfacing. For nonsurgical neck rejuvenation, we use the Tune Face handpiece to deliver either ultrasound or radiofrequency energy, or a combination of both, depending on your goals. The treatment can help tighten skin, smooth lines, improve jawline contours and reduce submental fat (double chin).
Profound
Profound is a minimally invasive procedure that uses radiofrequency energy and microneedling to increase collagen and elastin in the skin. The combination of these two technologies can produce comprehensive results, including skin tightening, smoothing, lifting and volumising, as well as improvements in skin texture and radiance.
Secret RF Microneedling
Secret RF is our second radiofrequency microneedling option for targeting skin laxity, fine lines and other ageing concerns commonly found in the neck. Compared to Profound, Secret RF tends to be a more comfortable experience with less post-treatment downtime. We typically recommend undergoing a series of two to three sessions, followed by one to two maintenance sessions annually.
MyEllevate at AF Aesthetics
MyEllevate is one of our most unique options for neck and jawline contouring. The procedure uses an illuminated suture rod system to create an internal framework to support the neck tissues.
What Does MyEllevate Involve?
During a MyEllevate procedure at our Chatswood clinic, our doctor introduces a specialised illuminated rod under the skin. The entry points are small punctures rather than linear incisions, which reduces scarring after the procedure.
Using the rod, the doctor creates channels beneath the skin and weaves a non-absorbable suture through the neck muscles and soft tissues. This creates a hammock-like suspension system that lifts and holds the tissues in place.
The procedure typically takes about one hour to complete. As it is performed under local anaesthesia, patients can return home the same day.
What Is the MyEllevate Recovery Process?
After the procedure, patients may experience:
- Swelling and bruising for one to two weeks
- A feeling of tightness in the neck area for several weeks
- Wearing a supportive chin strap for up to one week
- Downtime for three to five days
Individual experiences vary. In general, however, MyEllevate tends to involve reduced downtime and risks compared to invasive neck lift surgery, and may involve more downtime and discomfort than a noninvasive procedure.
What Are the Expected Results?
While neck contour changes may be noticeable right after the MyEllevate procedure, these are just the initial results. The final outcome becomes clearer in a few weeks, once any swelling or bruising settles down. Many patients see improvements that last for several years. The treatment may also increase natural collagen production, which can extend the visible benefits.
Choosing the Right Treatment for You
There is no one-size-fits-all solution in aesthetics. These are some of the key factors you and your doctor will consider when designing your treatment plan:
Your Starting Point
The condition of your skin and other neck tissues plays a big role in treatment selection. For instance, if you are just starting to notice minor changes, you might be a great candidate for energy-based treatments. If you have more noticeable skin laxity, MyEllevate could be worth considering.
Time for Recovery
Different treatments come with different recovery periods. While light- and energy-based treatments typically let you get back to your routine quickly, MyEllevate requires a few days of downtime. Think about how much time you can realistically take away from work or social activities.
Comfort With Scarring
While noninvasive treatments do not leave scars, MyEllevate involves tiny entry points that may leave very small marks. Your comfort level with even minimal scarring might influence your choice.
Risk Considerations
All treatments have different levels of risk. During your consultation, we will discuss what each option involves so you can weigh the benefits and drawbacks frankly.
Your Goals
What bothers you most about your neck area? Maybe it’s loose or crepey skin. Maybe it’s deep creases. Or perhaps you’re concerned about definition along your jawline. Being clear about what you want to address helps guide your treatment choices.
Budget Planning
Some treatments might require multiple sessions over time, while others are a one-time investment. Understanding the long-term cost implications can help you make a financially sound decision.
Health Factors
our medical history, medications and supplements, and overall health all matter when evaluating your treatment options. Some conditions might make certain treatments more or less suitable for you.
While you might already have a treatment in mind, the best way to make this decision is through a consultation with one of our experienced doctors. They will help you understand which treatment options make the most sense for your situation.
Let’s Create Your Treatment Plan
At AF Aesthetics, we emphasise the importance of thorough consultation and assessment by our medical team before recommending any particular treatment pathway. During your consultation, you will have dedicated time to discuss your concerns, learn about your treatment options and get answers to all your questions. Our doctors will explain what you can realistically expect from different treatments and help you choose an approach that fits your needs.
