Redness can be attributed to a number of everyday experiences, whether it’s an intense workout, an embarrassing situation or a warm summer day. Sometimes facial redness can occur because of a skin condition, such as rosacea, or issues like sun damage and broken blood vessels.
The Vbeam Prima laser is one of the most effective treatments for redness and minor vascular skin conditions. At AF Aesthetics, our doctors have extensive experience helping people achieve more evenly coloured skin. Request a consultation today to find out whether Vbeam Prima could be right for you.
What Is Vbeam Prima?
Vbeam Prima is the latest in the Vbeam series from Candela. The Vbeam device is a pulsed dye laser (PDL), which means it uses a solution with an organic dye to create the laser effect. Like the original Vbeam, the Vbeam Prima laser uses 595 nm wavelength laser technology to treat vascular-related skin concerns. The new Vbeam Prima offers even more versatility with an additional 1064 nm wavelength to treat larger and deeper blood vessels, as well as a cooling system that protects the skin and helps in treating vascular and pigmented lesions at the same time.
How Does Vbeam Prima Work?
Vbeam Prima emits pulses of concentrated light that target haemoglobin, the red protein found in blood cells. As the light energy enters a blood vessel to reach the haemoglobin, it converts into heat that destroys the vessel. The damaged blood vessel is then flushed out by the body, erasing it from view and diminishing overall redness in the area. Skin cells that surround the targeted blood vessels are not damaged because they do not contain haemoglobin.
What Can Be Treated With Vbeam Prima?
Vbeam Prima can be used to treat the following concerns:
- Rosacea symptoms
- Port wine stains
- Facial and leg telangiectasia
- Benign pigmented lesions
- Deep blue veins
- Angiomas
- Venous lakes
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Age and sun spots
- Acne vulgaris
- Benign cutaneous lesions and scars
This versatile laser treatment can be used for the face and the body.
Who Are Sydney Vbeam Prima Treatments For?
Certain people are predisposed to broken capillaries and other vascular lesions, especially those with fair skin. In all people, both those who are predisposed and those who are not, external factors can cause these lesions and worsen them.
Rosacea is most likely to affect women, individuals with fair skin and people between the ages of 30 and 60. However, it can affect anyone regardless of gender, age or ethnicity, including people with darker skin.
Vbeam Prima has a good safety profile for most skin types. It is not appropriate for pregnant women or patients who have taken certain medications for the past six months. Those with a history of cold sores or the herpes simplex virus should be treated for these conditions before being treated with the Vbeam laser.
How Are Vbeam Prima Treatments Performed?
An initial consultation is the first step of your treatment at AF Aesthetics. The consultation helps determine whether Vbeam Prima is appropriate for your skin type and your goals. It also allows our doctors to design a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual needs.
Vbeam Prima is a noninvasive procedur. First, we’ll cleanse your skin to remove any makeup, skincare products and natural oils. You will wear protective eyewear throughout the procedure to shield your eyes from the light. During the treatment, pulses of light will be applied to your skin. Your treatment may require one or several pulses, depending on the type of condition being targeted.
What Is the Expected Recovery After Vbeam Prima?
Downtime following a Vbeam Prima treatment is minimal. Most patients are comfortable resuming their daily routine straight away. Side effects may include slight swelling or skin redness in the treated area that typically resolves within a day or two. A small subset of patients may experience mild darkening or bruising that typically lasts for three to 10 days. Your doctor will advise you of any post-treatment restrictions and recommendations.
When Will I See Results From My Vbeam Prima Treatment?
Many patients can see initial improvements quickly and notice more profound improvements after their first few Vbeam Prima treatments. The results of your treatment will depend on your skin’s condition and the reaction of your skin to the laser. Some patients get full benefits after four to 8 weeks of treatment.
How Many Vbeam Prima Treatments Will I Need?
Vbeam Prima laser treatments at AF Aesthetics are customised to meet your individual requirements. The number and duration of treatments vary, but most patients can expect to need two to four treatment sessions. Results tend to be long-lasting. Any blood vessels or lesions that are eliminated with treatment are unlikely to return. However, you can develop new veins over time, and may choose to undergo additional Vbeam Prima treatments to maintain clear skin.
