Secret RF Microneedling

microneedling patient

Microneedling has gained a lot of popularity in recent years. Traditional microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses a special device to create micro-injuries in the skin and trigger a natural healing response. As the body repairs the injuries, it increases the production of collagen and elastin, producing a renewed complexion.

While microneedling can be performed alone, it can also be combined with radiofrequency technology to give synergistic skin benefits. This is the technology behind Secret RF microneedling.

What Is Secret RF Microneedling?

The Secret RF system is a novel fractional radiofrequency (RF) microneedling treatment designed to stimulate collagen growth and address the common signs of ageing. Rather than impacting the entire skin surface, as many laser-based technologies do, Secret RF causes controlled damage to the dermis (the thick layer of tissue below the top-level epidermis) in microscopic zones. The intact surrounding tissue helps to minimise adverse effects, reduce recovery time and accelerate the wound healing process.

How Does Secret RF Microneedling Work?

Secret RF provides all the benefits of traditional microneedling with the added benefits of radiofrequency energy. The RF energy travels through the needles deep into the dermis, where it generates heat. The heat causes constriction of the skin, resulting in a visible tightening and lifting effect. It also enhances the stimulation of collagen and elastin production that microneedling already provides. The combination of microneedling and radiofrequency in a single treatment revitalises both the epidermis and dermis for comprehensive results.

What Can Be Treated With Secret RF Microneedling?

This powerful combination of technologies can improve a range of concerns from the inside out, including:

Who Are Sydney Secret RF Microneedling Treatments For?

Secret RF microneedling is appropriate for treating most skin types and tones. The ideal candidate for radiofrequency microneedling is an individual in overall good health looking to enhance the appearance, texture and tone of their skin. To determine whether Secret RF is right for you, come to AF Aesthetics for a consultation.

How Are Secret RF Microneedling Treatments Performed?

The Secret RF needling system is highly customisable. With every procedure, we can:

  • Select the number of needles on the handpiece (25 or 64)
  • Choose the needle type (semi-insulated or non-insulated)
  • Adjust the needle penetration depth (from 0.5mm to 3.5mm)
  • Control the intensity of the RF energy

Once your provider has made the appropriate selections for your needs, your treatment can begin. They will pass the handpiece over your chosen treatment area while the needles rapidly move in and out and deliver RF energy into the dermis. A treatment with Secret RF can take as little as 20 minutes.

What Is the Expected Recovery After Secret RF Microneedling?

Bruising, swelling and redness are possibilities any time the skin is penetrated, even if the needles are very small. However, you are not required to take downtime after a Secret RF microneedling treatment, so you can immediately resume your normal routine if you feel comfortable with your appearance. Many patients choose to wait a day before returning to work.

Your AF Aesthetics provider will explain how to care for your skin. The usual aftercare recommendations include using a gentle cleanser, avoiding wearing makeup for at least 24 hours and wearing SPF because your skin will be more sensitive to UV rays.

When Will I See Results From My Secret RF Microneedling Treatment?

Immediately post-procedure, your skin will be sensitive and slightly flushed. These effects will fade within a day or two and you will begin to see a brighter, more even complexion. Your skin will continue to improve over the next three to six weeks as the collagen and elastin production triggered by the treatment continues to accelerate.

How Many Secret RF Microneedling Treatments Will I Need?

Many patients see improvement after one or two RF microneedling treatments, with full results typically observed three months after the third treatment. Appointments are arranged four to six weeks apart, depending on your concerns and their severity.

After the initial series of treatments, results may be long-lasting. Maintenance sessions are recommended once or twice per year because the ageing process continues. Our medical professionals will provide you with a recommended treatment plan based on the condition of your skin during your consultation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does Secret RF Microneedling hurt?

Every patient has their own unique pain threshold. During the procedure, you will feel heat and pressure on the treatment area. The discomfort associated with RF microneedling may be more than traditional microneedling, but it is well-tolerated by most. We’ll work with you to maximise your comfort.

What is the difference between professional microneedling and microneedling at home?

The microneedling tools available for personal use are very different from the devices used by professionals. For safety reasons, the needles in at-home tools penetrate only the very surface of the skin. Because of this, they typically do little in terms of actually stimulating collagen growth and promoting long-lasting effects. Medical microneedling tools have high-quality needles and multiple depths of penetration, making them significantly more effective.

What is the difference between radiofrequency and laser?

Laser treatments use light energy to target the surface of the skin. Radiofrequency treatments use electrical energy to penetrate deeper into the skin. Both modalities have benefits. The key is matching the right treatment to the right patient and concerns.
