RF microneedling is a nonsurgical treatment that combines mechanical microneedling with radiofrequency energy delivered into the skin through the needles. The needles puncture the skin at a depth of several millimetres, and then the radiofrequency energy produces a localised thermal effect that contracts and stimulates the tissues.
Our providers use RF microneedling for concerns like fine lines and acne scarring that can benefit from additional collagen production. The depth and energy delivery of these treatments differ depending on the type of device and the concern we are addressing.

How Profound RF Works
Profound RF can reach deeper into the skin than many other microneedling devices. It uses ultrafine needles that can reach both the dermis and the layer underneath it, known as the subcutaneous tissue. These layers are important for the structural support of the skin. The heat and perforation of the skin signal the body to begin repair processes, which result in enhanced collagen and elastin production.
The Typical Profound RF Treatment Experience
A Profound RF session takes one hour or more, depending on how many areas we treat. We cleanse the skin and apply an anaesthetic to reduce discomfort, then use the device in a methodical stamping pattern to deliver energy evenly across the treatment area. Redness, swelling and bruising can occur afterwards.
Results Timeline and Maintenance
Profound RF does not produce immediate visible changes because it takes time for collagen and elastin to develop. You may notice subtle changes in the weeks after your treatment, and changes can continue for up to six months. We may recommend scheduling additional sessions to continue this collagen stimulation process, or you may be happy with your results after one treatment.

How Secret RF Works
Secret RF delivers radiofrequency microneedling in a fractional pattern that treats certain zones of skin while allowing the surrounding tissue to remain unaffected. The precise adjustment of needle length and depth gives us flexibility when treating different areas of the face. We can also customise the energy output and the size of the tip. Secret RF can be used both to treat deep layers of skin and to address surface issues like fine lines and pigmentation.
The Typical Secret RF Treatment Experience
A Secret RF session is usually completed within 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas treated. Before your treatment, we will clean the skin and apply a topical anaesthetic. Then we will place the handpiece on the skin and treat the entire facial surface one small section at a time.
Results Timeline and Maintenance
You may see results after one or two treatments with Secret RF. It can take up to three months after your last treatment to begin to see your full results. We will schedule these treatments with four to six weeks in between to make sure that your skin has time to heal and recover.

Profound RF vs. Secret RF: Technology and Energy Delivery
Profound RF uses temperature-controlled radiofrequency energy through insulated microneedles that treat the deep dermis and subcutaneous tissue. Secret RF targets the dermis with bipolar radiofrequency energy that is released in short pulses as the needles enter the skin.

Profound RF uses a single-use cartridge containing five pairs of microneedles that deploy to fixed depths, between 1 mm and 6.0 mm, depending on the cartridge selected.
Secret RF uses interchangeable 25-pin or 64-pin tips with adjustable penetration depths ranging from 0.5 mm to 3.5 mm. It also offers insulated and non-insulated needle options that give us control over whether heat is concentrated at the needle tip or distributed along the shaft.

Because Profound RF delivers energy deeper and for longer at each insertion point, treatment sessions involve fewer passes but more noticeable short-term swelling, redness or bruising. You will likely need to allow for several days of downtime to give your skin time to settle.
Secret RF treatments involve multiple passes at shallower depths, and surface reactions may be milder and resolve more quickly.

Profound RF may be chosen for concerns involving deeper tissue change, such as skin laxity in the lower face and neck or cellulite. Secret RF may be chosen for dermal concerns like uneven texture, fine lines and mild laxity.

Best Practices for After RF Microneedling
After RF microneedling, the skin is typically more sensitive and requires supportive care as it recovers. Our post-treatment guidance usually involves instructions about how to gently cleanse the skin and avoid irritating or harsh ingredients. We will also recommend that you stay out of the sun and apply sunscreen to protect your skin from damage. Avoid extreme heat, facial massage and heavy makeup until your skin heals.
