Rejuran
As we age, our body’s natural collagen production begins to decline. In fact, collagen levels start to decrease by approximately 1% each year after the age of 20. This gradual loss of collagen can lead to the development of fine lines, prominent under-eye circles and diminished skin elasticity over time.
If you’re looking for a way to minimise the visible impact of these changes, Rejuran treatments at AF Aesthetics may be the answer. Learn more about Rejuran by booking in for a consultation with one of our experienced providers in Sydney.
What Is Rejuran Skin Healer?
Rejuran is an injectable treatment that aims to restore skin health, repair damage caused by external factors and illuminate the complexion.
The key ingredient is a polynucleotide (PN) derived from salmon DNA. Salmon DNA was chosen because it is biocompatible (not harmful) with human tissue. Research supports its regenerative and anti-inflammatory effects.
When introduced to the skin, PN can stimulate skin’s natural repair processes. Other ingredients in the formula include hydrators and amino acids to improve skin elasticity and brightness.
How Does Rejuran Work?
When compared to other kinds of injectables, Rejuran’s primary difference is its mechanism of action. Rejuran Skin Healer is a bioremodeller, meaning it works through the process of biostimulation — triggering your body to produce collagen through its natural processes.
This is different from injectable volumisers, which are used to plump up or contour specific areas of the face, such as the cheeks, lips, temples, and jawline. It is also different from most skin healers, whose primary purpose is to add moisture to the skin.
What Are the Potential Benefits of This Treatment?
Rejuran Skin Healer treatments offer a range of potential benefits for those seeking to enhance the health and appearance of their skin:
- Improved skin hydration and radiance
- Stimulation of collagen and elastin formation
- Improved skin elasticity and firmness
- Diminished appearance of fine lines, scars and uneven texture
- Reduced appearance of dark under-eye circles
It is important to note that while these are the possible outcomes of this treatment, individual results may vary. The extent of the improvements seen will depend on factors such as your age, skin condition, lifestyle habits and overall health.
Who Are Sydney Rejuran Treatments For?
If you’re noticing subtle changes in your skin, such as increased laxity or the emergence of fine lines, Rejuran may offer a preventative and restorative solution. It is particularly well-suited for those in their late 20s and beyond, as this is when you are more likely to start experiencing the concerns Rejuran is intended to address.
During your consultation at AF Aesthetics, our experienced practitioners will assess your skin and discuss your concerns and goals to determine if Rejuran is a suitable treatment for you. They will also provide you with realistic expectations regarding the potential outcomes of your treatment.
How Are Rejuran Skin Healer Treatments Performed?
At AF Aesthetics, our skilled practitioners follow a precise and well-established protocol to maximise patient comfort and minimise potential side effects.
The first step in the treatment process is to thoroughly cleanse the targeted area. Next, a numbing cream is applied to the skin and left in place for approximately 30 minutes.
Once the numbing cream has taken effect, the practitioner begins the injections using an extra-fine needle or cannula. The small size of the instrument helps to further minimise discomfort and allows for precise control over the depth and placement of the injections. The goal is to deliver the Rejuran directly into the dermis layer of the skin, where it can stimulate the fibroblast cells responsible for collagen production.
The injection process typically takes 10-20 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
What Is the Expected Recovery After Rejuran?
Recovery following a Rejuran treatment is typically swift, allowing you to return to your daily activities with minimal downtime of one to three days.
Some swelling and redness at the injection sites is common but usually mild. If you notice small bumps following the procedure, these usually resolve within 24 to 48 hours. Any bruising that may occur typically fades within one to three days.
How Long Does It Take for Rejuran to Work?
Rejuran Skin Healer rejuvenates and repairs the skin from within, which means the effects of the treatment are not visible straight away. This is a notable difference from volumising treatments, which show results immediately.
Some clients notice initial improvements in their skin texture and radiance as early as two weeks after their first treatment. More significant results become evident approximately four weeks post-treatment, and it takes three to six months for maximum collagen remodelling to occur.
How Many Rejuran Skin Healer Treatments Are Recommended?
For most clients, a series of two to four sessions, spaced three to four weeks apart, is recommended to kickstart the skin rejuvenation process. After this initial series of treatments is complete, maintenance treatments can be scheduled one to two times per year to sustain the results.
