The LHALA Peel sets a new standard in chemical exfoliation. Originating in South Korea and now available at our Sydney clinic, this next-generation peel refines skin texture, improves skin clarity and radiance, targets acne, and supports long-term skin health.

The LHALA Peel’s sophisticated yet gentle formulation makes it an excellent choice for individuals seeking a “glass skin” treatment without an extended recovery period or aggressive peeling.

What Is the LHALA Peel?

The LHALA Peel is a chemical exfoliating treatment that uses lipohydroxy acid (LHA), a modified form of salicylic acid, as its core active ingredient.

The formula also contains a patented alkaline rejuvenating complex (HP-Sol™) and skin-replenishing lipids to support collagen production and maintain the integrity of your skin barrier.

Chemical peels often rely on high concentrations of acids to strip away your outer skin layers. While this is effective, it also involves more discomfort and downtime. The LHALA Peel rejuvenates your skin gradually, with fewer side effects such as redness, peeling or sensitivity.

How Does the LHALA Peel Work?

The LHALA Peel’s three key components target both surface concerns and deeper structural support within your skin:

Exfoliation With LHA

Lipohydroxy acid enables gentle exfoliation that clears away dead skin cells without disrupting your skin’s natural barrier. As a result, your skin appears brighter and more refined, with minimal irritation.

Dermal Activation With HP-Sol™

HP-Sol™ stimulates collagen-producing fibroblast cells. This may lead to firmer, more elastic skin over time. HP-Sol™ also assists in dissolving residual keratin and dead cells for improved skin texture.

Barrier Support With Lipids

Lipids act as a protective veil, reducing trans-epidermal water loss and guarding against environmental irritants. This helps your skin stay hydrated and resilient after treatment.

What Are the Potential Benefits of a LHALA Peel?

The LHALA Peel is designed to deliver visible skin improvement while maintaining a high level of comfort and skin integrity. The benefits may include:

  • Smoother skin texture
  • Brighter, more even complexion
  • Reduced appearance of pigmentation
  • Diminished appearance of pores
  • Enhanced hydration levels
  • Improved firmness and elasticity
  • Reduced congestion and breakouts
  • Improved skin barrier function
  • Skin cell regeneration
  • Improved skincare product absorption

Combined, these effects contribute to the smooth, luminous quality often described as “glass skin”.

Who Is the LHALA Peel For?

The LHALA Peel is available for a wide range of skin types and concerns, including those who may not tolerate stronger peels. It is particularly well-suited for clients seeking a comfortable treatment experience with progressive results.

During your consultation at AF Aesthetics, our experienced providers will determine whether the LHALA Peel matches your needs and expectations.

How Are LHALA Peels Performed?

The treatment begins with a gentle cleanse to remove surface impurities and balance your skin’s pH.

Once your skin is prepped, the LHALA Basic solution is applied using a technique to encourage circulation and lymphatic flow. This first phase contains a lower concentration of active ingredients so your skin has time to adjust to the treatment while the exfoliation process begins.

After the Basic solution, the more concentrated LHALA Ultra solution is applied. This second phase remains on your skin for 5-10 minutes.

There is no need for numbing and little to no discomfort throughout the peel. Most clients describe the experience as mildly tingly or warm, rather than painful.

The final step of the treatment is the application of a soothing mask with LED light. The mask remains on for approximately 15 minutes to calm and hydrate your skin. Before you leave, your provider will apply moisturising products and sun care.

What Is the Expected Recovery After a LHALA Peel?

The LHALA Peel works gently and gradually. Your skin may feel slightly warm or appear pink for a few hours after the treatment. No visible peeling is expected, though very mild flaking may occur in some individuals.

Normal makeup use can typically resume the next day. Avoid active skincare ingredients, such as retinoids or exfoliants, for several days post-treatment. Use a non-irritating moisturiser and broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.

How Long Does It Take to See Results From a LHALA Peel?

Many clients notice improvements in their skin within a few days of their first LHALA Peel. The initial results are typically subtle, such as a smoother surface, brighter tone and more hydrated appearance.

The full benefits of the LHALA Peel develop progressively over time. As collagen production and cell turnover increase, you may see more significant improvements in skin tone, firmness and clarity. This is particularly true for clients targeting concerns such as pigmentation, acne or early signs of ageing.

How Many LHALA Peels Are Recommended?

Individual responses can vary based on skin condition, concerns and treatment consistency. Some clients choose to have the treatment occasionally as a skin refresh, while others benefit from a structured series to address more persistent issues.

For ongoing maintenance, the recommended treatment cycle is once every two to four weeks.

Your provider will discuss realistic expectations and tailor a plan that suits your needs.

LHALA Peel FAQ

What are the potential risks of this treatment?

While the LHALA Peel is considered gentle compared to many chemical peels, all skin treatments carry some risk. Temporary side effects may include:

  • Mild redness or warmth following treatment
  • Light flaking in the days after, though this is uncommon
  • Temporary sensitivity to skincare products or sun exposure

In rare cases, individuals with very reactive or compromised skin may experience itching or irritation. These effects are usually short-lived and resolve with appropriate aftercare.

We conduct a detailed skin assessment prior to treatment to minimise risk and ensure the peel is suitable for your skin type.

How should I prepare before a LHALA Peel?

We recommend following a few simple pre-treatment guidelines for at least two weeks before your LHALA Peel:

  • Avoid the use of topical retinoids or exfoliating acids
  • Refrain from tanning or using tanning beds
  • Stop all hair removal treatments (waxing, laser, hair removal creams)

Let your provider know if you’ve had recent cosmetic treatments or changes to your skincare routine.

How does the LHALA Peel compare to other chemical peels?

Many chemical peels aggressively exfoliate the skin using low pH acids. While they are effective, they can cause significant redness, flaking and downtime.

In comparison, the LHALA Peel produces minimal discomfort and allows immediate return to normal activities without visible skin shedding or social downtime.
