Dermal Fillers

As our bodies age, we lose fat in our faces and produce less collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. These are the building blocks of healthy skin and a youthful facial appearance. In their absence, our faces become gaunter, and our skin becomes looser and more wrinkled. Dermal fillers help by replacing lost volume and plumping the subcutaneous areas that need attention.

At AF Aesthetics, we utilise fillers made from a natural substance found in the skin and connective tissues. As the key ingredient in dermal fillers, it attracts water to give the skin hydration from within and create a natural lifting and volumising effect.

In addition to their anti-ageing benefits, dermal fillers are used to achieve various cosmetic goals. Recovery

Dermal filler injections are done by our fully qualified and trained medical and nursing professionals. After gaining an understanding of the areas you wish to enhance, your practitioner will inject the filler into targeted areas. This is a quick procedure with minimal recovery time.

Generally, all our injectables are safe with minimum side effects. Some patients can go back immediately to their normal routine. Other patients experience temporary redness, swollen skin and purplish bruising in the injected area. Please try to avoid strenuous activity, anti-inflammatory medications, excessive sun and heat exposure, and alcohol for the first 24 hours after treatment.

Results

The effects of a dermal filler treatment will begin to show immediately and improve in the following days. Results typically last for six to 12 months, depending on specific product types, anatomical features of the treatment area, the structure of the skin and its response to the treatment.

If desired or required, fillers can be removed by injecting an enzyme that accelerates their breakdown. This is a critical point of differentiation from anti-wrinkle injections, which cannot be reversed medically.

Lip Fillers

Perhaps more than any other procedure, lip fillers brought dermal fillers into the mainstream. Younger patients seeking fuller, more pillowy pouts and older patients seeking to replace lost volume are flocking to cosmetic practices for this minimally-invasive treatment. It’s not hard to see why — lip fillers are a quick treatment that requires little to no downtime and produces instant results.

Like all dermal fillers used at AF Aesthetics, our lip fillers contain a substance that naturally attracts water to itself. This is the reason for its volume-boosting effect, as well as its ability to add moisture and hydration to the lips. Lip injections may also help stimulate collagen production, which can give the treatment even longer-lasting benefits.

Recovery

Lip fillers are an in-office procedure. Treatment typically takes 15 to 30 minutes. Once your injections are finished, you will be able to go about your day with few restrictions.

You may temporarily experience bruising, unevenness or a bumpy sensation. Lips also tend to swell in the first 48 hours post-treatment, so do not be alarmed if they initially look larger than you intended. Ice after the injections, avoid exercise and extreme temperatures, and limit alcohol intake to minimise swelling.

Results

The effects of lip fillers are fairly immediate. Volume increase is apparent right away. Over the next two weeks, swelling will resolve and the filler will integrate into the tissue fully, revealing the final result.

Lip fillers can last anywhere from 6 to 12 months. It is important to follow the aftercare procedures our physicians provide to maximise the effect of the treatment.

Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty

One approach to nonsurgical rhinoplasty uses injectables to shape and smooth the nose. This can be done with dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections or a combination of both. Because these treatments are not permanent, nonsurgical rhinoplasty is an excellent option to temporarily transform your look or “test drive” what your nose might look like after rhinoplasty surgery.

With anti-wrinkle injections, we can relax the muscle that pulls the sides of the nose downward, making it look droopy. This frees the nasal tip, giving it a perkier, upturned appearance. Anti-wrinkle injections can also help with excessive nasal flare and bunny lines on the ridge of the nose.

With dermal fillers, we can mask a dorsal hump (the bump on the bridge of the nose), change the shape or projection of the nasal tip, and veil minor contour irregularities that occur naturally or as a result of surgery. It’s important to understand that fillers work by adding volume — only surgical rhinoplasty can achieve goals that require the removal of tissue.

Alternative to Injectables

The preferred method of nonsurgical rhinoplasty at AF Aesthetics is the thread lift technique. This involves placing fine, dissolvable threads under the skin and gently pulling them to create a lifting effect. The threads also trigger collagen production that provides additional structural support and can extend the results of the treatment.

Downtime is not required following a nose thread lift. Results are visible straight away and last, on average, one to two years. Repeating the treatment nine months after the initial treatment may enhance its longevity.
